Newspapers Continue To Lie

Why?  I just don’t get it.  Yes, there is pressure to be first and to scoop the opposition, but that used to be balanced by the responsibility to be right.  Today the Boston Herald admitted that they lied about allegations the Patriots taped sideline signals.  If I lived in Boston and was a Patriots fan (and who isn’t) I would never pay for a copy of the Herald again.  They nearly destroyed a team that is loved by Boston and much of Massachusetts.  If the story is true, then you MUST have the proof.  There have been far too many instances of journalists not getting the story right because they didn’t do their job.  They rushed, they didn’t have all the facts and they didn’t double check their sources.  Sloppy journalism only makes the problems we face worse – because it kills trust.
