I teach web design and I’m always trying to get my students to understand that how a site is structured is one of the most important things. But the problem is that there are two kinds of users out there. First there are power users. They want what they want – now. But there are also more casual users. These are people who are either new to the web, or just don’t use it very often. I can’t find it now, but I read an article that said that something like 20 percent of web users didn’t know what google was and a big number of search engine users never goes past the first 3-4 results. Either they find what they want or the give up. So web designers must make sure that their page titles are really useful and that their keywords on the page are easily searchable to jack up their search results.
