YLYB #118: Not Enough Days

There are just too many pages left and not enough days to finish them.  We have 56 pages to finish and only 6 more days to finish them.  The kids are plodding like we have a month left.  I may need a Nexium drip before this is all over.

  1. I’m putting together a list of the top 100 high school teacher blogs and I was wondering if I could interview you via e-mail to include more information in my article. Please e-mail me at alexisbrett@gmail.com and include the title of your blog in the e-mail, thanks!

  2. You have my deepest sympathies. I gave an assignment to my Advanced students three weeks ago. ALL of the teams begin the work the day before it was due…and most are still working after finding out WHY I gave them 3 weeks. (This was one of my inspired “Challenges” – a “volunteer” extra credit assignment.

  3. Is this your worse year ever?

    • Not the worst one ever. But it has been very tough.

  4. I sure don’t miss those deadlines and the lack of motivation by students. I am always being asked if I miss teaching…NO.

As for SF, the lease on the tiny apartment was up in January and starting in March the rent was going from $1884 to $2442. Without a job, or any prospect for one, we could not keep paying that amount and have a nice life. The house in Fresno is paid for so now we will use that $2000 a month for other things. Although I will miss SF, I am ready to move on to something else, I just don’t know what it will be. I thought it would be pretty easy for me to find a job, what with all the transferable skills I have, but alas, no.

Thanks for sticking with me all these years.

  5. I feel your pain, bud. The furtherer we go down this yearbook road, the farther behind we get!

  6. Hiya…just leaving a quick note. I will be downloading and using as much of your PJ lessons as I can handle. Been struggling w/how to explain ISO, shutter speed, depth of field…and your PPTs look great! Hope you’ve gotten past the roadblock mentioned above and are streaming along!

  7. We’re on our final yearbook deadline, and still correcting pages like mad. As much as I try to beat it into their heads, my cherubs just don’t “get” the concept of doing a decent job the first time, so they won’t have so many corrections when proofs come back…
